VERY BUSY TIME FOR RMK AT THE WORLD SUPERYACHT AWARDS

RMK Marine is delighted to announce that two of its recent builds, Karia and Sarafin have been recognised at the prestigious World Superyacht Awards each with a judge’s special commendation.

The ceremony for the World Superyacht Awards was held for the first time in Istanbul at the beautiful Çırağan Palace Kempinski, on the banks of the Bosphorus. This fact in itself recognises the development of superyacht building in Turkey.

The night was a busy one for the team at RMK Marine as the companies Executive Chairman Mr Rahmi M. Koç was called upon to present 2 of the 15 awards throughout the evening. The company takes its name from the initials in the Chairman’s name. A keen yacht owner who has covered many miles in his various yachts over the years has given Mr Koç a deep understanding and appreciation of what makes superyachts worthy of such awards. Koç group companies have been central to the development of manufacturing industries in Turkey and the central position of RMK Marine and the Koç group is typical of the work that has been done in support of the country.

RMK Marine is delighted with these special awards. Karia was designed for the experienced yacht owner for long distance voyaging and has been built to extremely high quality and specifications with long term low maintenance as a priority requirement. Particular attention has been given to ensure an efficient and sea kindly hull design, low vibration and noise and exceptional interior volume for a 45m yacht.

There are a number of features that separate this yacht from many others. The 500GT sized yacht, has an exceptional use of space to maximise comfort with light, airy and versatile spaces for up to 12 guests. The owners are afforded unique privacy on the master deck and the yacht incorporates a swimming platform aft and 2 tenders stored under the foredeck. The Judges and other visitors have been tremendously impressed with the design, content and the quality of construction.

Sarafin, the Oyster 100 by Dubois, that was completed last year at the RMK Marine yard, was also recognised for a special award. The yacht has had a great deal of very favourable press since its launch and is an excellent example of the quality of work produced at RMK Marine.

In 2010 the beautiful 52m ketch Nazenin V built by RMK Marine was also honoured with the Judges Special Commendation at the Awards and RMK Marine has built other award winning yachts. These accolades reinforce the company’s drive to achieve “uncompromising quality and exceptional value”.

RMK Marine remains busy with more Oyster superyachts in build and a busy refit programme as well as motor yacht projects.
